We used to blog more before twitter came along.

Google Reader question

So why doesn't Google Reader have a search box?

I routinely read things about 3 hours before I need to somehow know/apply/share them. so that by the time I actually need the info I have long since forgotten which blog I saw it on.

So...ummm...hey. Google. can you please get working on that for me? I know it amounts to one search collection for each Google Reader user - but hey. I have google desktop so maybe you could just push it off on me to index. I'm cool with that.

It's just perplexing that the "search" company doesn't offer it for my self-selected information feeds. which I would think would already be fairly effective at slimming down the source to the most relevant info.

Just curious.

Google Gears Add-On

Funny people!

Google Gears

Any bets as to how long it will be before we see "Offline New!" in the header bar of GMail? Can't be soon enough!

That will be a truly great day for me. We'll move all of our company email to GMail and off of our hosting provider.

Got to thinking yesterday that an Apollo app authored by Google to handle local/offline Gmail would be pretty much the best of all possible worlds. I know they're not running IMAP in their backend. but it's gotta be the kind of system you could strap an API on regardless.

Just sayin...

Google Checkout released

Interesting system released by Google today.

We are working on implementing online payment functionality for our Event Management System (and later this summer a major upgrade to our online giving system) and had pretty much committed to using Authorize.net for this first rollout. The Google system looks pretty tight. but I don't especially want to tie *everything* we do to them.

It looks to be as simple as Paypal with the added benefit of discounted (or possibly free) service for AdWords clients. I'll keep an eye on Camden to see if he starts using this for his "goods" and act accordingly ;-)
