Bethlehem, PA gets kudos from Fortune

Who knew we were prescient in choosing Bethlehem. PA?

According to Fortune Small Business. Bethlehem is #58 of 100 best places to launch a business and one of the top 6 places to launch a tech company.

We're here. Viddler is just a few miles away. Who else is "waiting here (near) Allentown" to make it big?

Would you please get back to work?

Our spam filter has caught over 700 messages in the last three days. This is way over our previous high water mark. Volume always goes up over holidays and long weekends. but this is just obscene.

Please go back to your day job and stop hammering our inboxes. I can guarantee you won't be getting any purchases from us. so please leave us alone. Thank you.

Site Redesign

Expect things to be a little bumpy this weekend while I yank down our old site layout and replace it with something a little nicer.

Broken links will happen...but only because I'm trying to clean up the house a bit too. Farcry makes it pretty easy to reskin the main site. but outlying properties (the blog. Labs) will be a little more challenging.

Back to work...

Matt pointed this out on Friday - it's some pretty amazing image resizing work. Adobe. when will this be in Photoshop?

I remember frantically setting up BlogCFC from MAX many years ago so I could post some thoughts on MAX in New Orleans. Oddly enough.I happened to check my stats page today and whoa - this blog has been up for 1000 days!

There were plenty of gaps in posting traffic over those 1000 days. but I'm happy to have caught the milestone!

How I get through the week

Clear and convincing evidence of an addiction:

It doesn't help that there's a Dunkin Donuts a half a block down the street from the office...

Announcement that's been sent out each of the last two days:

 1) Online Reservations Now Available at XXXX Gym
	Wed. 27 Jun 2007 15:16:58
from infitnes@XXXX.EDU (Fitness Programs)

The XXXX Fitness Center is pleased to announce that XXXX University

*NOTE- THE SYSTEM WILL NOT BE ACCESSIBLE UNTIL JULY 5TH

There's something about "Now" being equal to "July 5" that doesn't quite add up because my calendar says it's June 28. Silly people.

The big 3-0

Farewell. 20s. Hello. 30s!

I've been assured by many people that the 30s are the new 20s. So if the 20s were like college with money. then the 30s should be like...grad school with money?

Either way. I am blessed to have a great family and amazing friends to share this journey with. I've learned a lot. grown quite a bit. taken a few big gambles. wussed out on a few that I should have taken. and still managed to make it ok. One thing is for certain: I've got great people around me who have made it all absolutely worthwhile. I can't wait to see what happens next. A special shout out to my mom today too - I think she's having trouble coping with the fact that she has a 30 year old son now!

Also born today: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (21). Tim Allen(54). Harold 'Red' Grange (The Galloping Ghost. which happened to be my high school mascot). Strange company to be in. that's for sure!

Sign of the times: more birthday greetings on Facebook and via IM than any other way. Even among those there's a clear age separation too. Wonder what this will be like a few years from now when the next big thing is dominating communications. Interestingly enough. it's clear the telephone companies have screwed themselves by being too controlling - only ONE text message so far today. Wouldn't that be the ideal medium for people to send a note?

Enough rambling...back to work. Thanks for the indulgence!

Safari on Windows

This feels SO strange to be working in Safari on my ThinkPad.

On the other hand. this will be quite convenient when testing our webapps from now on - no more switching over to the Mac to do so. My next machine will be a MacBook Pro anyway. so this could just be an interim thing :-)

Get it here if you want it...it's just different...hard to put my finger on how. Already found out the hard way this app doesn't like being maximized on my secondary monitor for some reason.

Late night deployments

Just realized that this the latest I've pushed code to production in a few months. Sure. it's only just past 1AM. but it feels late enough. Not too many people online. no email coming in...peaceful and just right for a smooth code launch. I remember pushing code out at 5 and 6AM a little more than a year ago today...definitely less fun than this.

I enjoy the strangest things.
